Thariq Kara founded Athstat, together with Kisset Chirengende in 2019. He is also the CEO of NU Borders LLC, a Washington DC and Boston-based company focused on providing advanced analytics, data science and custom software engineering services to the US Government.
Customers include the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security and the Department of State.Prior to founding NU Borders, Thariq was a Government employee at the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (DHS-ICE) where he ended his career as the Chief Data Architect for the Agency.
Thariq graduated from the Florida Institute of Technology with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, and also captained the Men's Tennis team competing in the NCAA Division II. He then went on to complete a graduate degree in Engineering Management at Duke University.
